1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Legislation Nation (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Legislation Nation is a civic engagement platform that lets users draft, publish, endorse, and discuss proposed legislation at international, national, provincial/state, and municipal levels. The Platform is provided for informational and civic participation purposes only.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and legally able to enter into contracts to use the Platform. By registering, you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the bills, comments, and other content you submit ("User Content"). By publishing content on the Platform, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating the Platform.

You represent that your User Content does not infringe the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, or defamation rights, and that it complies with all applicable laws.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Post content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or discriminatory.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
• Upload viruses, malware, or any code designed to disrupt the Platform.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform, other users' accounts, or our systems.
• Use the Platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

Publishing bills requires an active subscription, billed monthly at the current listed price. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. You may cancel at any time; access to publishing continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are issued at our sole discretion.

8. Draft and Published Content

Draft bills are private and visible only to you. Once published, content becomes public. You may delete your bills at any time, but content that has been indexed by search engines or shared by others may persist in cached or archived forms outside our control.

9. Intellectual Property

The Platform's design, logos, text, and software are owned by Legislation Nation and protected by intellectual property laws. User Content is owned by its creators as described in Section 5. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary materials without permission.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The Platform may link to or integrate third-party services (such as Stripe and Google). We are not responsible for the practices or content of third parties. Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and policies.

11. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any results will be accurate or reliable.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legislation Nation, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Platform, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legislation Nation, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Legislation Nation is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction for any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform.

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will remain in effect.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
